We are so excited to begin this adventure of owning and operating Skillet Creek Campground, formally known as Wheeler’s Campground. We, Chris & Lea Ann Gieck, have been seasonal campers at this campground for the last 9 years and now have the opportunity of owning this beautiful piece of property. We decided to rename the campground to Skillet Creek Campground to pay homage to the history of the property. Prior to the name Wheeler’s Campground, the business used to be called Skillet Creek Camping Resort.

The campground sits on 70 acres of beautiful wooded and green areas. Skillet Creek runs through the property, along with a fishing pond and a newly constructed wooded hiking trail. We will maintain this natural beauty and add some fun amenities and weekend activities for families. In addition to the new amenities, we will be adding 30+ new seasonal and daily hook up sites and several cabins to enjoy.

Beyond the campground, we absolutely love the Baraboo area as there is so much to do here. Devil’s Lake State Park, Mirror Lake State Park, the Baraboo River, Parfey’s Glen and Pewit’s Nest are just a handful of the natural areas in this part of the state that have drawn us and others in. These natural areas have hiking, rock climbing, boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking and biking opportunities.

In addition to all the outdoor activities available, we have loved spending time at some of the local dining establishments. The newly built, Tumbled Rock Brewery & Kitchen and Balanced Rock Winery are some of our new favorites and less than 1 mile from our campground. Some other fun things to do include Circus World, The Al Ringling Mansion and Brewery. Lastly, Wisconsin Dells and all its attractions are only 15 minutes away.

We are eager to continue the legacy of this campground along with our two daughters. We are excited for this season of camping and can’t wait to start this journey.
